The math on Thumbtack works for the platform, not for the pro. Every "lead" you pay for is a coin flip. Win it, you net what's left. Lose it, you're out the lead fee anyway. Stack enough losses and you're paying to chase work that never closes.

Clients search by service category and ZIP. Premier Pro tier gets top placement. All paid-tier pros get the Verified Pro badge after our team reviews their profile. Free Essential tier pros are listed too, just lower in results. The flat subscription replaces buying ads for visibility.
Sign up anyway. The app works nationally — there's no city gate. As more pros and clients join in your area, the marketplace gets denser. Early pros in a city tend to get disproportionate booking volume because there's less competition for the same clients.
Yes — you pick a primary service category and add specializations. Common pattern: a plumber who also does light remodel work lists "Plumbing" as primary and adds "Handyman" or "General Contractor" as specializations. One subscription covers all of it.
Clients pay through the app. Funds are held in escrow until the job is complete, then released directly to your linked bank account. There's a small standard card-processing fee on payments — no MyGuyPro commission on top of that, and no per-job fee from us.
